Australian motorists are now spending $240 a month on petrol or 15 per cent more than they did a month ago.
Unleaded in capital cities is selling at $1.55 a litre, with Sydney, Brisbane and Perth motorists paying the highest prices since early November.
Petrol prices have reached the highest level in almost six months, after US President Donald Trump imposed new restrictions on Iranian oil exports.
As recently as February, motorists were paying just $1.20 a litre for petrol.

CommSec chief economist Craig James said Australian motorists were now spending about $240 a month to fill up a medium-sized car with a 60-litre fuel tank, a significant 15 per cent rise from $209 in mid-March.
'People certainly are paying more at the petrol pump,' he told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday. 'We had a rebound over April.'
Monthly fuel bills are now at the highest level since early November, when motorists were
