A family have released a graphic picture of their dying grandfather following a horrific hit-and-run in a direct appeal to the killer driver to “do the right thing.”

Trevor 'Gordon' Caldicott, 81, was mown down by a blue VW Passat as he crossed a road in Birmingham at 9.20pm on Saturday.

The driver sped away from the scene, leaving Mr Caldicott lying fatally injured.

The pensioner, from Hodge Hill in the city, was rushed to hospital with massive head injuries but died on Tuesday.

His family released a graphic image of him lying unconscious in hospital as they appeal for the driver to hand themselves in.
