A girl is recovering after being shot in the head in a callous drive-by shooting in Stockton around midnight Wednesday.  

The girl, 14, was sleeping in her bed on the second floor of her house when shots struck the home in Weston Ranch, a neighborhood in Stockton, California.

The perpetrator of the shooting then fled the scene in a car police described as a light-colored, newer model, four-door sedan.

The teenage victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The area of Weston Ranch is a residential area where a lot of families with children live.  

The woman's daughter is now at home recovering, although she still had bullet fragments lodged in her scalp.

The girl's mother, who did not want to be named, told Fox 40: 'This is something that you don’t wish on your worst enemies, you know what I’m saying?. 

'She’s doing good. She’s home and I just appreciate everybody’s support and prayers. I fear for our life here.'

The family say the frightening incident has made them consider
