Actor Kris Mochrie pleaded guilty to supplying GHB and perverting the course of justice
Emmerdale has sparked controversy after bosses cast an actor who has been convicted of supplying the date rape drug GHB in a role with a similar storyline.
Kris Mochrie played a man called 'Lee' who apparently spiked character Victoria Sugden's drink on a night out before she was raped.
During the episode aired on Thursday, the former Brookside actor is seen talking to his victim in a nightclub before the attack.
But some fans have questioned why an actor with a conviction for supplying a date rape drug would be cast in such a role.
The 34-year-old admitted supplying class C drugs to a friend who collapsed in a Hull nightspot from taking the date rape drug in 2008.
Mochrie was sentenced to two years in prison at Hull Crown Court in 2010 for the supplying the drug and perverting the course of justice, according to the Liverpool Echo.
