A criminal psychologist believes Borce Ristevski coerced his daughter into supporting him after he confessed to killing his wife and her mother.

Laura Richards, a behavioural analyst who specialised in domestic violence, stalking and coercive control, believes Sarah Ristevski's decision to stand by her father despite his guilty plea indicates she has been manipulated.

During a pre-sentence plea hearing at the Supreme Court of Victoria, Ms Ristevski, 24, Borce and Karen's daughter, refused to deliver a victim impact statement and chose to write her father a character reference instead.

This, Ms Richards believes, lends to her theory that Ms Ristevski 'may be under [her father's] spell.'

'This makes little sense unless it is understood that she too may be under his spell, which talks to his ability to manipulate and control those around him. 

'If I could use a few words to describe my dad's personality they would be loving, caring, sympathetic, protective and charismatic,' Ms Ristevski said in her character reference.

'Growing up as a family my mum, dad and I were completely inseparable.

'We would spend all of our spare time together and family was everything to us. The love we had for each other was unexplainable, and everyone in our lives saw it.'
