A Florida sheriff’s deputy has been suspended after his service gun went off inside a crowded middle school cafeteria where he was working as a resource officer.

According to a statement from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the school resource office was leaning against the wall inside the Thomas Weightman Middle School lunchroom when his holstered gun 'incidentally' discharged into the brick wall behind him.

No one was injured inside the cafeteria, where students were waiting in line for food.
