A Northern California public school is considering removing a mural of George Washington from the hallways after concerns the imagery is offensive and demeaning to Native Americans and African-Americans.

The mural at the George Washington High School by Victor Arnautoff is made up from 13 panels that make up the 'Life of Washington'. 

But a working group determined that several of panels are offensive and 'traumatize students and community members.'

However, those in favor of keeping the 83-year-old mural say that removing it ignores the intent of the artist and represents an attempt to erase history.
