Fraudster tradeswoman, 25, drove the wrong way down a highway in a stolen Toyota Hilux for nearly an HOUR 'with her girlfriend' Fraudster drove a stolen car the wrong way down the highway for 48 minutes Deborah Hardy drove to Forster, and crashed into a police car and was arrested Police allege Hardy, 25, stole vehicles by pretending to take them for a test drive Hardy's girlfriend Sara Narywonczyk also attended the 'test drives', police claim By Laura Withers For Daily Mail Australia Published: 03:45 BST, 3 May 2019 | Updated: 03:45 BST, 3 May 2019 A fraudster tradeswoman allegedly drove a stolen vehicle the wrong way down a busy highway for almost an hour in a desperate bid to evade arrest. Deborah Hardy allegedly drove a Toyota Hilux into an barrage of oncoming traffic on the Pacific Highway towards Forster, in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, in November last year. Police claim heavily-tattooed Hardy, who previously masqueraded as a car buyer in a bid to steal vehicles from trusting Gumtree vendors, was accompanied by her female lover Sara Narywonczyk during the high-speed chase. Deborah Hardy (pictured) allegedly drove a Toyota Hilux Ute into an onslaught of oncoming traffic down the Pacific Highway towards Forster Hardy, 25, had previously duped two online dealers from the Hunter Region into handing over a Mazda6 and a Husqvarna motorcycle under the pretense she was taking them for a test drive, police claim. Police allege Hardy's girlfriend Narywonczyk, 27, was with her at the time of her 'test drives' – a claim she strenuously denies, The Daily Telegraph reported. But when police were alerted to the scam and began to pursue the pair, it was Narywonczyk who was allegedly behind the wheel of the stolen black Mazda 6. She is then understood to have crashed the car into a nearby tree in West Tea Gardens and the pair were forced to flee the scene on foot. Hardy (pictured) had duped two online dealers into handing over a Mazda6 and a Husqvarna motorcycle under the pretense she was taking them for a test drive Hardy and Narywonczyk then allegedly broke into a nearby property and stole a Toyota Hilux Ute and some petty cash of up to $141. Hardy then drove the stolen vehicle the wrong way down the highway for almost 48 minutes at about 130km/h. She refused to slow down even when officers abandoned the chase because of safety concerns, police claim. The former tradie 'endangered many hundreds of motorists' during her reckless drive down the highway, court documents state. Police claim an 'excess of 100 calls' were made to emergency services in relation to the potentially life-threatening incident. Narywonczyk (pictured) has been charged with including auto theft, joy-riding, aggravated break and enter, dangerous driving while in police pursuit and on a disqualified licence, fraud and shoplifting But once Hardy reached the coastal town of Forster she crashed straight into a police car and was arrested. It's claimed Hardy spat at one officer and shouted 'f*** both of you' at the officers apprehending her. After a search of the abandoned Mazda 6 officers uncovered a small quantity of ice, bullets, $700 and a gold chain inside the vehicle. Police have since charged Hardy with a number of offences including dangerous driving while in police pursuit, aggravated break and enter, assaulting a police, and drug and ammunition possession. Narywonczyk has also been charged with auto theft, joy-riding, aggravated break and enter, dangerous driving while in police pursuit and on a disqualified licence, fraud and shoplifting. Both women were denied bail. Hardy is due to appear in Forster Local court on May 17, and Narywonczyk will face Maitland Local Court on May 21.
