A tattooed thug brazenly dognapped a French Bulldog tied up outside a shop in broad daylight before allegedly demanding a ransom from its owner.

CCTV footage shows the animal outside a Shell petrol station in Santa Cruz Atoyac in Mexico City while its owner, known only as Midori, popped in to buy cigarettes.

While she is inside, a scruffy man approaches the dog, called Bayo, which reacts in an excited .

The stranger then looks around furtively before untying the animal and walking it back to his car.
