Billy Joel has found himself embroiled in a row over helicopters at the exclusive Long Island community where he lives as residents try to have them banned.

The musician, who lives with 185 others including Fox News's Sean Hannity on an Centre Island in Oyster Bay, New York, is thought to use his helipad around once a month, including to travel to gigs at Madison Square Gardens.   

But fed-up neighbors want to ban all private aircraft from the island, on the grounds that they are too noisy and dangerous.
