Hans Ryckmans gave his amusement park loving girlfriend Elke Vanratingen the fright of her life after he proposed 114 feet in the air on April 18 - and then 'dropped' the ring. The Belgian Youtube stars, who run the Youtube channel Lex, Lee & Family, met ten years ago in a bar in Hasselt, Belgium. After dating for a while the pair said it became clear that they loved the same thing; visiting amusement parks. Hans said: 'One of the first parks we visited was Toverland (loosely translated to Magic Land), the park where I proposed to her. 'In this park, near the wooden roller coaster in the video, we took one of our first selfies as a young couple. Hands pretends to drop the ring as Elke watches in shock open mouthed after warning him to be careful with the ring Looking down into the abyss: The pair seem to be coming to terms with the lost ring already and seem to enjoy the ride none-the-less The ride of their lives: The pair try to enjoy the ride in a moment of extreme emotion 'Even today, that photo is still hanging on our wall. Therefore, Toverland is a special place to us.' The couple created a business out of their love for visiting theme parks - writing a blog and filming videos about their experience. When two kids came along, the pair transformed their Youtube career into a family endeavour taking their kids along with them to the amusement parks. Hans pulled out the ring on the 90 km per hour ride as Elke warned him not to drop it The couple added: 'Today we have two kids; our daughter, Amélie or Lee, is four-years-old and our son, Alexander or Lex, is two-years-old. 'I think they are even more addicted to theme parks than we are. Next week Lee will even ride her 20th roller coaster!' Although Hans said he realises the idea to propose on a roller coaster is not totally original the Youtuber said he added the pretend 'ring drop' to create an extra unforgettable twist to the occasion. When the ride car finally pulls in to the platform again Hans reaches into his pocket and reveals the real ring to Elke who is overcome with emotion. The proposal took over six months to plan due to the park not being able to confirm the ride would operate during the winter. He said: 'I have to be honest; I’m not the first guy that asks his girlfriend to marry him in a roller coaster. The family regularly visit amusement parks for their Youtube channel. 'I contacted Toverland in november 2018. But they wanted to wait until april 2019. 'They could not guarantee the wooden roller coaster would be operational during winter time.' 'My girl friend knew something was about to happen, so I think these few months have been the longest in her lifetime.' To get Elke to the park without raising suspicions further he co-ordinated with Toverland who sent a promotional email to Elke asking her to be the 500.000th passenger on the wooden roller coaster named Troy. Hans said: 'She believed and therefore was not suspicious because there were a lot of cameras and people from Toverland around us.'
