The baby born on Monday to the United Kingdom's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could have dual British and U.S. citizenship.
Baby Sussex, as he is being called since his name has not yet been released, is the first British-American baby born into the British royal family, according to CNN.
The child is automatically a British citizen based on Prince Harry's citizenship status and being born in the UK.
Assuming that Meghan hasn't voluntarily given up her U.S. citizenship, which she would not have to do in order to become a UK citizen, the baby could be granted U.S. citizenship based on her status.
However, U.S. tax implications might prevent the couple from seeking American citizenship for their new bundle of joy.
