Wests Tigers player Michael Chee Kam has been let off with a fine after he punched a ride-share driver through his window on a night out in Bondi last December.
Chee Kam was convicted of assault and given a 12-month good behaviour bond and fined $2000 in Waverley Local Court on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Tigers utility pleaded guilty to common assault in April.
Magistrate Greg Grogin said while he accepted the NRL star was remorseful and a person of general good character there was a need for punishment.
