Britain is set to be battered by four days of rain and even snow, with temperatures is some parts of the country plunging to -5C (23F) as an 800-mile cold front bears down on Britain.
The downpours are set to strike after a Bank Holiday Monday that was colder than Siberia, and verged on the coldest ever since the holiday began 41 years ago in 1978.
The Met Office, preparing severe weather warnings, forecast -5C (23F) this morning in Scotland and rain for many areas of the country from Wednesday until Saturday, warning of flooding in eastern Scotland as up to 30mm of rain falls and possible thunderstorms.
Snow is due today and on Wednesday on the Southern Uplands in Scotland, with winds of 45 miles per hour set to batter the coastal areas in the South-West, South and East of the country, this week.
