The Mayor of Naples has blamed the gangster TV show Gomorrah for spikes in violence across the mafia-gripped city.
Luigi de Magistris hit out at the Sky Atlantic series, which is based on the Naples's notorious criminal underworld, for 'corroding the brains, souls and hearts of hundreds of very young people'.
The former magistrate claimed that a wave of crime hits the city each night the programme is broadcast and has drawn a connection between the two.
