10. Preacher argues with annoyed train passengers

Most people don't enjoy a packed train ride at the best of times, but when you combine it with a relentless Bible-basher, it can really test your patience.

No matter how many times the passengers on this Sydney train objected, the American preacher wouldn't give up. The result is some very grumpy commuters.

9. Young woman allegedly assaults an elderly woman on the street

Judith Green, 75, was waiting for a bus at the Market Square Shopping Centre in Geelong, Victoria, when Cori Glencross, 23, allegedly approached her.

Ms Glencross allegedly yanked on the elderly woman's hair, pulled her to the ground and kicked her twice.

She has been charged with affray, unlawful assault, unlawful assault by kicking and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

8. Woman and her friends use Snapchat before crashing their car

Bandmates Dennis Sales, 44, and Ken Morrow, 61, were travelling home from a gig when a car veered into their path in Berkshire Park in western Sydney.

The driver of the other car, Shania McNeill, 21, died in the head-on crash, moments after she was captured on a Snapchat video driving in the middle of two lanes while singing to loud music with her friends Hazel Wildman, 23, and Faeda Hunter, 20.

At the end of the clip, the friend taking the video is heard screaming while Shania is seen driving on the opposite side of the road with an oncoming car's headlights beaming in her direction.

Both men suffered serious injuries in the accident and will be forced to spend extended time off work to recover.

Ms Wildman and Ms Hunter suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The pair have come under fire after they shared a selfie of themselves in hospital wearing neck braces and hooked up to medical machines a day after the tragedy.

7. Julian Assange is dragged out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London

After seven years of taking refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, British police finally arrested WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange with the co-operation of the Ecuadorian authorities.

Assange appeared dishevelled and sported a long grey beard as he was forcibly removed from the building.

The divisive figure sought asylum at the embassy in June 2012 to avoid being extradited to Sweden over alleged sex offences.

He has been sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for skipping bail and faces possible extradition to the United States, where he is wanted for helping Chelsea Manning hack a government computer, leading to the release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents on WikiLeaks.
