AOC says working in Congress is a ‘huge income transition’ compared to ...

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Saturday about the dramatic transition she made from waitressing a year ago to earning a salary as a member of the House of Representatives.

‘When I was waitressing, I used to jerk awake in the middle of sleep worried that I may have forgotten if a bill cleared, or if I had enough money to pay a doctor in cash,’ the New York freshman member of Congress tweeted on Saturday.

As a rank-and-file member of Congress, Ocasio-Cortez is now earning $174,000 a year.

She slammed the ‘idea that financial struggle is due to “poor character”’ as ‘one of the greatest scams in the United States.’

‘I’m going through a huge income transition compared to living off tips,’ Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
