A Good Samaritan whose life was ruined when a woman falsely accused him of sexual assault will sue her for $1 million.

Caitlyn Gray, 20, told police she was stalked, harassed, and eventually assaulted by Kenan Basic in Bankstown, Sydney, in November 2018.

The married father-of-one vehemently denied the allegations, but spent two weeks inside Silverwater jail in Sydney's west before Ms Gray confessed she made it up.

Mr Basic, 36, lost his job over Gray's allegations and is now in the process of getting divorced.

He will front court next month demanding police pay the mountain of legal bills he accumulated defending himself, and told 7 News he would sue Gray for $1 million.

Ms Gray alleged he sexually assaulted her after he helped fix her car when she pulled up to a BP petrol station after a crash.

'I always helped people, you know, all my life... and this is the first time the snake bit me,' he said earlier this week.
