A mother is accusing the council of 'wrecking' her garden after contractors ripped up her decking and left a note saying 'we'll be back in morning' - and months later the mess has still not been cleared up.

Karine Walker, 36, is demanding compensation from Hull City Council after her back garden in Corran Garth was dug up 'without her consent' during an investigation into plumbing problems in the neighbouring property in March.

Contractors came and checked her garden before she left for a hospital appointment with her son, but when she returned at 10.30pm that night she says she found it had been left in a mess with a note pushed through the letterbox saying 'we'll be back in morning', warning her to 'stay out of back garden'.

Now, months later, the mess still has not been cleared up and Miss Walker wants compensation to rectify the problems caused.

'I want somebody to take the blame and fix the garden,' she said. 'I want compensation and somebody needs to do something.

'It looks like a dumping ground and I didn't realise they would cause this much damage. They have wrecked my garden, they have literally wrecked it.'

She added: 'I just found this little ripped up piece of paper shoved through the door when I had no idea any work was going to be carried out.

'For months we've just been left with this big mess in the garden and no one is telling us anything.'
