The shocking scene unfolded during a match at the Hardwood Palace tournament in Rocklin on Saturday, as the Cornerstone Basketball Academy squared off against the Folsom Elites. Even before the woman attempted to trip the Cornerstone player, team coach Eugene Solano said his player’s warned him that a mother sat court-side was urging Folsom’s players to get physical. ‘One of the kids during one of the timeouts had said, “Hey Coach, there’s a parent on the sideline, it’s a woman wearing a pink hat…and she’s telling their kids to elbow us in the face,’ Solano told KXTL-TV. The footage shows a nine-year-old boy jostling with an opposing team player before shaking off his advances and dribbling up the court As the boy goes to run past the woman – dressed in a pink hat, grey top and long-skirt –she kicks out her foot towards the boy’s ankles, in a perceived attempt trip him up During the same huddle, another of his players said the woman tried to trip him. The footage shows a nine-year-old boy jostling with an opposing team player before shaking off his advances and dribbling up the court. As the boy goes to run past the woman – dressed in a pink hat, grey top and long-skirt –she kicks out her foot towards the boy’s ankles, in a perceived attempt trip him up. ‘Is this a specific incident that occurred with this particular parent and are there other parents who take child or youth athletics this seriously where you would actually attempt to harm a child?’ Solano asked. Cornerstone team coach Eugene Solano (right) said his player’s warned him that a mother sat court-side was urging Folsom’s players to 'elbow them in the face' In a statement, directors from the Folsom Elite Basketball Academy issued a statement confirming they have spoken to the woman but refused to identify her. ‘We have been made aware of the video and we have addressed the situation with the parent involved directly,’ the statement reads. ‘It is our policy to manage all disciplinary matters in a way that is effective and productive so we can eliminate incidents in the future but this is an internal club matter and out of respect for the privacy of the people involved we will not be commenting any further.’ The General Manager of the Hardwood tournament confirmed the woman has since been told not to return to watch the competition again.
