Former AFL champion Jason Akermanis has landed himself in more hot water, this time over racist remarks made on a popular rating sports show. AFL commentator Caroline Wilson was unable to contain her fury when she unleashed a scathing attack on the three-time premiership legend following his guest appearance on Channel Seven's The Front Bar last Thursday night. Akermanis, who has been in the recent limelight over his bans from three golf clubs on the NSW-Victorian border, was asked on the show about his 2005 sacking from Brisbane's 98.9 FM, a radio station targeted at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences. Outspoken AFL great Jason Akermanis (pictured) sparked more controversy when he appeared on Channel Seven's The Front Bar last Thursday night 'Because I tried to get an extra half an hour,' the former controversial Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs superstar replied. 'I said "let's try and get these monkeys upstairs to change their mind". Wilson didn't hold back when she slammed the former Brownlow Medallist's remarks on Channel Nine's Footy Classified on Monday night. 'Jason Akermanis did something I thought was impossible last Thursday night. He made me feel uncomfortable watching The Front Bar,' she said. 'Jason, what a poor choice of guest you turned out to be. 'How you, and the show, managed to get away with that racist comment about the indigenous staff at a radio station that sacked you is really surprising. I would love to know what would have happened if those comments were made elsewhere on another show.' Caroline Wilson slammed Akermanis' racist comments on Channel Nine's Footy Classified Fronted by co-hosts, journalist Andy Maher and comedians Mick Molloy and Sam Pang, The Front Bar thrashed Channel Nine's long running AFL Footy Show in the ratings earlier this season, which led to the recent axing of its rival program. Wilson ended her 56-second rant with some harsh words for Akermanis. 'People don't find poor golf course behaviour funny and I'd really be surprised if you ever do land a coaching job after the lack of grace you showed on The Front Bar the other night,' she said. 'Jason, on a show that manages to make most of its guests leave and seem like better blokes than they really are, you vandalised an already damaged brand.' Jason Akermanis was already in the headlines over his bans from three golf clubs Some viewers agreed. 'I absolutely loved the show until last week when you absolutely mocked and made derogatory statements that offended my Christian values. It wasn't once or even twice it was for a good ten minutes. It was not entertaining for us,' one former viewer of The Front Yard posted online. But some fans have since come to Akermanis' defence. 'He was honest in saying what he said that got him sacked,' one man tweeted. Another added: 'I watched the show and thought Aka was fine.' The latest saga come after the aspiring professional golfer was recently banned from three clubs in Albury-Wodonga. Jason Akermanis won three AFL premierships with the Brisbane Lions in his heyday Reasons ranged from signing an incorrect scorecard, cheating and abusing fellow golfers. Akermanis was banned from Thurgoona Golf Club after many run-ins, including an incorrect scorecard, which he claims was 'just an error' and that it had never happened before. His second ban at Albury followed a heated exchange with a fellow player who moved his golf cart. His most recent ban at Wodonga Golf Club was for taking extra shots during a charity tournament but claims he was told to. Akernamis is no stranger to controversy. The outspoken personality once suggested in a regular sports column that homosexual players shouldn't come out as the sport was not ready to accept them, and once accused an opposing player of taking performance enhancing drugs. Akermanis, pictured with wife Megan plans to return to Queensland in the coming months He also said Melbourne Demons legend and former football club president Jim Stynes was a 'nasty man' who should not be given a state funeral following his death from cancer in 2012. He leaked to the media a teammate had broken ribs just before the Lions' 2003 grand final against Collingwood. Akermanis played 325 AFL games and booted 421 goals during his 16 year career between 1995 and 2010.
