A gay drug dealer killed a James Bond actor with a massive overdose of GHB as he and his partner spent 19 months ripping off men they met on dating websites, a court heard.

Eric Michels, 54, was found dead at his home in Chessington, Surrey, after being given the drug by Gerald Matovu, 25, the day before, it is claimed.

Matovu and his lover, Brandon Dunbar, 23, spiked the drinks of 11 other men and in one case injected the drugs directly into a man's bottom to steal valuables from their victims, it is claimed.

Jonathan Rees, QC, prosecuting, said: 'The prosecution say that these two defendants often working together took advantage of pick-ups, dates, with other gay men through apps such as Grindr to steal property from these men and also to take photographs of their bank cards and other identification documents for the purpose of fraud.

'A number of their targets used drugs including 'G' to facilitate this and one, 52-year-old Eric Michels was killed.

'During the 19-month period that you are concerned with, it appears that the defendants were close friends and in an intimate relationship, although the evidence suggests sometimes, they were getting on better than others.

'The prosecution evidence in this case really focuses on 12 gay men who met up with one or both of the defendants with view of having sex and ended up being the victim of their criminal enterprises.'
