Bungling ‘drug dealers’ arrested after MDMA lab catches fire

Alleged drug dealers were busted after their meth lab caught fire and they were forced to call Triple 0. 

After the fire was extinguished at the Kogarah home, in September 2018, police located a clandestine laboratory.

A probe was launched by the National Anti-Gangs Squad from Victoria and NSW under Strike Force Sonivir to investigate the suspected syndicate.

In February a 60-year-old man was arrested and charged with 16 offences.

The charges include taking part in the manufacture of large commercial quantity of prohibited drug, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and supply prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail and is due to re-appear at Sutherland Local Court on June 3.

On May 7 a 27-year-old man was arrested at a unit in Ryde and a search warrant executed, police allegedly seized prohibited drugs, $70,000 cash, two vehicles, three motorbikes, jewellery and four luxury watches.

He was charged with take part in manufacture of large commercial quantity of prohibited drug, take part in supply of commercial quantity of prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

He was refused bail and is next due to re-appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 3 July 2019.
