The Queensland Department of Education document, which was released last month, pictures there students huddled over a lit Bunsen burner on the front cover. At first glance, it appears to be an innocuous photo, but on closer inspection, the boy on the right can be seen making an obscene hand gesture. The official document is supposed to be a practical guide for senior schooling, with information on subjects and courses, assessments and end of year exams. 'Oh Lordy! I’m a teacher and whenever you use pics for a wide audience you check all that s**t. Kid did good,' one person wrote. 'Someone was doing that to me the other day. It was in a social context. I tend to think there is real subconscious meaning behind it,' another person said. A third person added: 'To be fair to the kid, I have actually caught myself scratching my nose with my middle finger, making it appear that I am flipping everyone off.' The official QCAA document is supposed to be a practical guide for senior schooling, with information on subjects and courses, assessments and end of year exams In a statement provided to 10 daily, the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority's Chief Executive Officer, Chris Rider, declined to confirm whether or not the gesture was intentional. 'The QCAA uses images of Queensland schools in a wide range of publications. We’re aware that some people have chosen to interpret this image differently to us,' Mr Rider said.
