Police arrived on the scene at 9.10pm on Wednesday night. In distressing scenes, the victim's wife could be heard 'howling' in despair, a neighbour told the Herald Sun. The brutal stabbing took place in Campbellfield. 'She was distraught,' the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said. 'They're a quiet family. They never caused any trouble.' The 'howling' of the victim's wife caused alarm in the otherwise sleepy street The man aged in his 50s suffered chest injuries and was unable to be saved by emergency crews who were called to Campbellfield overnight. It is understood the victim did not live at the residence, and was instead there to claim a sum of money that he was allegedly owed. Another neighbour rushed to the scene and encouraged the man to not 'give up'. Police arrived on Wednesday night and are investigating the case One of the men arrested was the person who called the police to the scene. 'Police have arrested two men and they are currently assisting investigators with their inquiries,' the authorities said in a statement. Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death.
