John Worboys is accused of giving passengers alcohol laced with sedatives with intent to rape or assault them between 2000 and 2008. Now known as John Radford, he appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court via videolink from Wakefield prison wearing a grey shirt. Worboys, who turned 62 earlier this month, is charged with two counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent. He faces another two counts of administering a substance with intent. District judge Michael Snow told Worboys the case would be sent to the Old Bailey where he will enter a plea to the offences next month. Mr Snow said: 'I am sending everything to the Central Criminal Court, you will be there on June 20 at 9.30am,' the judge said. 'That hearing will require you to enter pleas of guilty or not guilty. 'It is extremely important that between now and June 20 you have a meeting with your advocate to ensure that hearing is effective. Announcing the charges earlier this month, a Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said: 'In September 2018, the Crown Prosecution Service received a file of evidence from the Metropolitan Police relating to allegations of non-recent sexual assault and of administering drugs to cause unconsciousness. 'Following a review of the evidence, the CPS has today charged John Radford, formerly known as John Worboys, with four offences.'
