Thousands of very hungry caterpillars have covered a hedgerow and a street with a blanket of silky webs.  

The tiny larvae, who have not been identified, have made silvery webs on hedges in Hallen, in South Gloucestershire, near Bristol to create a giant cocoon to protect their chosen feeding plants.

Their silky habitat ensures the creatures can munch away on their dinner, free from predators and gorge on vegetation before they pupate
