A late tackle that left a football player bloodied sparked an all-in brawl during a family-friendly rugby league match on Friday.
Roosters star Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, 30, delivered the blow to Newcastle Knight's Kalyn Ponga during the team's bout in Newcastle during the Indigenous Round game.
Waerea-Hargreaves launched himself at his much smaller opponent, seconds after Ponga, 21, kicked the ball down the field.
The large Roosters player could be seen raising his arm and hooking Ponga around the neck before the pair crashed to the ground.
Waerea-Hargreaves was not penalised during the game, but on Saturday, it was announced he would be handed a one-week suspension for the stunt that immediately spilled into an all-in brawl.
