It comes after Labour deputy leader Tom Watson wrote today Labour should move 'unequivocally' to back a second referendum. Mr McDonnell said: 'We've got to bring people together now and block a no deal and if that means going back to the people, so be it.' John McDonnell told Sophie Ridge on Sky that Labour would support a second referendum to block a no deal Brexit Mr Corbyn's closest political ally said that the Party's policy, as determined by its national conference, was to 'try to secure a deal if we can, block a no deal, block a bad deal, and if we can't do that ... then seek a general election or yes go back to the public.' Labour were also predicted to fare badly. Mr McDonnell told Sophie Ridge: 'I think we probably will get a good kicking in the election results tonight. We'll see, we'll see, but we're braced for that.' He said the party had tried to bring people together and not ignore Leave voters.
