Enrol with it! Noel Gallagher buys £8m seven-bedroom country pile with swimming pool and tennis court so son can get in to exclusive public school He wants his son Donovan,11, to have the best education like his daughter Anais The rocker who has a £50 million fortune will find the £20,000 fees shortchange Noel was expelled from school for throwing flour over a teacher By Ben Ellery And Katie Hind For Mail On Sunday Published: 23:42 BST, 25 May 2019 | Updated: 14:44 BST, 26 May 2019 20 shares 202 Viewcomments He grew up in a modest semi on a gritty Manchester council estate before enjoying a hedonistic lifestyle at Supernova Heights, his mansion in one of London’s swankiest areas. Now Noel Gallagher is on the move again and this time he is heading to the country – to make it easier for his eldest son to enrol at an exclusive public school. The former Oasis star has bought an £8 million, seven-bedroom mansion in Hampshire, complete with swimming pool, tennis court and a library. With views across rolling countryside, the impressive property also features a croquet lawn and an adjoining cottage. On the move: Noel and wife Sara have bought a new country home to help their son go to an exclusive school Crucially, the listed house is conveniently located for an exclusive school to which he and wife, Sara MacDonald, hope to send son Donovan, 11. The fees of more than £20,000 a year for day pupils will barely dent Gallagher’s estimated £50 million fortune, accrued mainly thanks to the extraordinary success of Oasis during the Britpop era. There are several public schools in the area, which include Brockwood Park School, Bedales and Church's. All of which was no more than a 15 minute drive from the property. The 51-year-old musician may also be attracted by the school’s strict discipline – not least given that he was expelled from Barlow Roman Catholic High School at 15 for throwing flour over a teacher – and by the celebrities among the school’s alumni. The father of three previously sent his model daughter, Anais, 19, whose mother is Meg Mathews, to private school. Rural oasis: Noel Gallagher's new mansion where he is looking to move to in a bid to improve his son's chances to go to private school Anais has since described the experience as fantastic. The singer bought his new home from a renowned interior designer. She purchased the property for £3.6 million back in 2007 but claims the outlay on its refurbishment means she will make little profit from the sale. It is unclear whether Gallagher, whose youngest child, Sonny, is eight, is funding the purchase with the sale of his six-bedroom home in London’s Little Venice. That property went on the market for £11 million in 2016 but was still on sale in April this year, by which time Gallagher had slashed the asking price to £7.94 million. Gallagher sold Supernova Heights in 1999. It was named after the Oasis hit Champagne Supernova and it was where he and Ms Mathews would throw notorious parties attended by rock stars and models. A spokesman for the star declined to comment. Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site dailymail and under his responsibility
