Theo Hayez, 18, vanished after leaving the Cheeky Monkey's bar about 11pm on Friday, May 31. He's not been seen or heard from since. Police say he hasn't used his mobile phone or made any financial transactions since then either. Mr Hayez's belongings - including his passport - were left untouched at the Wake Up! Hostel in Byron Bay, with staff there raising the alarm when he did not check out as planned. Police have released footage showing Mr Hayez walking from the Cheeky Monkey's nightclub wearing a black hooded jumper, beige pants and black shoes. Theo Hayez, 18, vanished after leaving the Cheeky Monkey's bar about 11pm last Friday The Belgian teenager was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper and beige pants He was supposed to check out and travel to Melbourne before returning home to Belgium this week, according to a post on Facebook by friend Michael Dorkhom. Police say they have serious concerns for his welfare. A NSW police spokesman on Monday told AAP that officers, alongside the SES and the Westpac Life Saver Helicopter, were still searching for Mr Hayez. 'At this stage, there's been no sign of him,' he said. 'There was some reports that an item of clothing was found, but it's been discounted.' The search is being led by Byron Police District's chief inspector Matthew Kehoe. He's asking for anyone with dashcam footage from the night Mr Hayez disappeared to come forward. 'We believe that someone must have seen Theo after he left the licensed premises,' he said in a statement. 'Although Theo has only been in Australia for a short time we are advised that this disappearance is completely out of character for him.' Mr Hayez's cousin, Lisa Hayez (pictured above, second from the right), said: 'We are just walking and checking everywhere to see if we can find him'. Mr Hayez (left, on night he disappeared, and right, with cousin) left his passport and belongings at his hostel Chief Inspector Kehoe said Monday's search would focus on bushland towards the east and northeast of Byron Bay. Alongside the search efforts of NSW emergency services, locals and backpackers alike have also been searching for the missing teenager. Volunteers have met outside the bar where Mr Hayez was last seen since Saturday, covering the surrounding region and focusing on low frequented areas. Mr Hayez's cousin, Lisa Hayez, has also started a search with the help of friends, retracing his steps from the nightclub, and checking local beaches and bushland. 'We are just walking and checking everywhere to see if we can find him,' she told the ABC. 'We're going to keep going for as long as we need to … people can come and join.'
