Extremely heavy rainfall has ravaged the countryside around Brescia, near Verona, northern Italy, and created the new natural wonder on June 11. Photographer Dario Bonzi, 28, filmed the frightening waterfall roaring 100 metres down the hillside next to a house in the village of Piancogno. Extremely heavy rainfall led to flash flooding and caused a powerful waterfall to surge over a cliff just metres away from houses in Italy (pictured) He said: 'This is a small creek with a big drop about 100 metres tall. 'Before the flood it was almost dry, and then it suddenly swollen up.' Incredible footage shows the torrent of murky water smash between trees and over the rock face as it hurtles towards the ground. The waterfall appears to get caught on a ridge, which sends it shooting into the air and away from the cliffside. Mr Bonzi added: 'Fortunately, it didn't directly cause any damage to the houses nearby, but other parts of the countryside were damaged by the weather.' It comes as much of nearby Lecco, Lombardy, were submerged in water due to the extreme weather this week - despite the south and east of the country preparing for a heatwave. Rivers overflowed which forced villages to evacuate their farms and homes. The tourist trail around Lake Como was also affected, with railways and roads deemed unsafe to pass through. And above the popular lake, the heavy rain added to melting ice in the mountains which caused thousands of cubic metres of water to race into the basin yesterday afternoon. In sharp contrast, temperatures are rising in the coming days, with Brescia hitting 84F (29C) today and 88C (31C) by Sunday.
