Grace Jones (pictured above) celebrated her 112th birthday in August last year. She died last week at her home in Worcester
The oldest person in Britain, who attributed her long life to drinking whisky, has died at the age of 112.
Grace Jones, also known as 'Amazing Grace' died in her sleep at her home in Worcester last Friday, her family has now revealed.
The-mother-of-one lived through 26 Prime Minister, five monarchs and survived both world wars and was said to have been fit and active until the very end of her life.
A Liverpudlian by birth, Mrs Jones was born on September 16, 1906 - only five years after the death of Queen Victoria.
She took the title of the oldest UK person last summer after the previous oldest person, Olive Boar's death at the age of 113.
Her daughter, Deirdre McCarthy, 80, said her mother 'did everything with style'.
She said: 'Only last Wednesday we were playing carpet bowls.
'She got tired, as she would at her age, but she never grumbled and she was always active. She was her usual self last week.
