The captain of Australia's Women's World Cup soccer team issued a statement directed at critics after their stunning come from behind victory against Brazil.

Sam Kerr admitted there was immense pressure on the Matildas following their shock 2-1 loss to Italy in the opening round. 

But in 90 emotionally-charged minutes at the Stade de la Mosson in France, Australia was able to turn the wheel on their potential car crash campaign.

'There were a lot of critics talking about us but we're back. So suck on that,' Kerr said in a post victory interview.
