Remainer party Change UK was forced into an embarrassing name change today after an online petitions website with a similar name threatened to sue its MPs.

The party set up by ex-Tory and Labour MPs who walked out over Brexit will now be known as The Independent Group for Change after the warning from Change.org.

It is the latest mishap to strike the new party, after six of its 11 MPs walked out earlier this month in a row over its poor European election results.

The group originally formed a loose grouping called The Independent Group before registering as Change UK in order to fight the May election.
