Remember when a can of baked beans cost 18c, a KFC dinner box $1.35, and margarine came in sturdy tubs?

A classic Meadow Lea container that survived 40 years at the bottom of a river is one of numerous relics of the past unearthed as a reminder of our simpler - and cheaper - times.

The plastic tub from 1979 was found during a clean up of Perth's Swan River, proudly bearing a logo celebrating Western Australia's 150th anniversary.
