Thousands of glammed-up revellers have let their hair down and celebrated the Ipswich Cup with some excited punters opting for some very revealling outfits. 

More than 25,000 people flocked to Ipswich Turf Club, southwest of Brisbane, dressed in their sharpest attire while others took the opportunity to have fun with their outfits.

The sun shone down on the field, providing a picture-perfect day for the races as punters attended the Ipswich Cup, first held in 1866.

Many punters were seen laughing with friends as they enjoyed the day dancing around the grass field, as one woman is seen kicking her leg up for the camera

Excited revellers were photographed taking selfies, dancing, drinking and posing for the camera during the day's festivities.

Men were seen dressed in colourful and patterned suits with some choosing eccentric cartoon patterns, while others opted for animal print.

Some of the women chose to ditch their high heeled shoes for thongs as the day continued.

The warm weather and the sun was welcomed by revellers who let their hair down and embraced the spirit of horse racing culture. 

Racegoers were spotted getting into the full festivities of the evening, with many letting their hair down and taking off their shoes as the day continued.

As the sun began to set on Saturday, many well-dressed racegoers looked a little worse for wear as the festive day of racing seemed to take its toll.

Luckily, exhausted punters had friends to lean on as they began to make their way home from the racecourse.  

Some women were seen wearing colourful dresses with floral patterns, while others opted for simpler monochrome outfits as they enjoyed the day.

Another activity enjoyed by punters was the Schooner beer races, where men dressed up in beer costumes and ran down the race track
