The New York Mets placed right-hander Noah Syndergaard on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain and activated second baseman Robinson Cano.

Syndergaard left Saturday night's 8-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh inning. An MRI was scheduled for Sunday morning.

On the season, Syndergaard is 5-4 with a 4.55 ERA for the Mets, who are in third place in the National League East, 6 ½ games behind the Atlanta Braves.

Cano last played on June 5, when he aggravated a left quadriceps injury and landed on the injured list for the second time in a month. He is scheduled to bat fifth on Sunday when the Mets meet the Cardinals in the finale of a four-game series at Citi Field.

The 36-year-old has been limited to 46 games and is batting just .238 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in his first season with the Mets.
