They are the front-runners in the race to replace Theresa May. And now Boris Johnson and Rory Stewart are reportedly pulling away from the field in another area - Google searches.

Voters have been going online to find find out more about the two Old Etonians and Oxbridge graduates during the campaign to become party leader and prime minister.

And it is Rory's opposition to hedgehogs becoming the UK's official animal and Boris's 'secret children' that have been drawing the most searches, according to the Times.

They have been the subject of as many as seven times as many searches as the other remaining candidates, the paper claimed.

It came as a new poll suggested that Rory Stewart 'won' Sunday's Channel 4 debate between the candidates - minus Boris Johnson.

A third (33 per cent) of all viewers polled by Opinium said the Cumbria MP put in the best performance, and 24 per cent of Tory 2017 voters agreed.
