Naraeej Kumar Shukla, 37, crashed his car in a parking lot in Blacktown, in Western Sydney, on June 4, and returned a breath test of 0.198. Shukla's six and nine-year-old children were in the backseat crying and in distresses, while witnesses could smell alcohol on him, 9 News reported. Blacktown Local Court documents reveal that Shukla had urinated himself and was 'argumentative, abusive,' and had 'glassed eyes and slurred speech' when police found him. As his car was being towed away following the incident, Shukla told reporters 'I made a mistake' when asked why he got behind the wheel. In court on Tuesday, the unemployed software engineer pleaded guilty to high range drink driving, and admitted he drinks up to five times a week. Shukla apologised for his actions in court, writing in a letter to the magistrate: 'I have vowed never again to engage in such dangerous conduct by never drinking again.' But prosecutors are pushing for Shukla to serve time behind bars.
