Just minutes into his rally in Orlando, Florida, the President referred to his 2015 campaign announcement as a 'defining moment in American history', then, pointing to the media covering the event, added: 'Ask them right there'. The crowd of around 20,000 then started chanting 'CNN sucks!' - a familiar refrain at Trump rallies, while the President smiled his approval. CNN brought in anchor analysis after about six minutes of Trump being on stage on Tuesday evening at his re-election campaign launch, after the President criticized the media 'By the way,' Trump continued, 'that is a lot of fake news back there'. 'The amount of press we have tonight reminds me of the Academy Awards before it went political and their ratings went down the tubes.' Referring to the 2016 election, he said: 'This was our chance to reclaim our government from a permanent political class that enrich themselves at your expense.' CNN's John Berman that comes in over the top, saying: 'All right. We've been watching the president kick off his reelection bid. He's been on stage for about six minutes. 'Within two minutes he did talk about the economy, but within four minutes it was attacks on the media.' Berman said that Trump 'quickly reverted to some of the same themes he has been talking about since he began running for president.' Later CNN's chief media correspondent Brian Stelter wrote on Twitter: "'CNN sucks' chant breaks out at Trump's re-election event, Trump says "that is a LOT of fake news back there." Trump kicked of his re-election bid by describing his candidacy in the last election as a 'defining moment in American history' and (referring to the media) added: 'Ask them right there' 'CNN aired the first 6 minutes, then cut away for analysis. @JohnBerman pointed out that Trump reverted to his usual lines.' Attacks the media were a common theme throughout the night, with Trump pausing and waiting for his supporters to cheer, 'CNN SUCKS!' numerous times. Trump's son Eric and his wife Lara, who both spoke at the event, labelled the media as 'fake news' and 'dishonest'. Lara, who is due to give birth to the president's grandchild this summer, wound up the arena with a claim that the media was saying Clinton was going to be the 45th President of the United States days before the election. 'They have always been wrong,' she declared. The Republican incumbent set the tone for the monster rally in Florida he'd be appearing at in the evening in a morning tweet that bashed the media and compared the scene outside the Amway Center to a rock tour Don Jr. also blamed the media for giving former Vice President and 2020 hopeful Joe Biden a pass. ‘Why did not one of them say, “Well, Joe, how exactly are you going to do that?” And why didn’t you do that in the last eight years as vice president and the prior 40 years in government and the Senate?,' Don Jr raged. The president set the tone for the rally in Florida in a morning tweet that day, which bashed the coverage of the event and compared the scene outside the Amway Center to a rock tour. 'The Fake News doesn’t report it, but Republican enthusiasm is at an all time high. Look what is going on in Orlando, Florida, right now!,' he wrote on Tuesday morning. 'People have never seen anything like it (unless you play a guitar). Going to be wild - See you later!'
