U.S. Women's soccer star Alex Morgan, gymnast Simone Biles, tennis star Serena Williams, and NBA star Kevin Durant are among the nominees for the 2019 ESPY Awards.

Biles and Morgan are competing with WNBA player Breanna Stewart and skier Mikaela Shiffrin for to become 'best female athlete,' while Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo vies for the 'best male athlete' award with golfer Brooks Koepka, Boston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Morgan, who scored a record-breaking five goals against Thailand in America's World Cup opener last week, was already named the U.S. Soccer's Female Player of the Year for 2018.

Meanwhile Biles won five gold medals at the World Champions in Doha and Stewart was the FIBA Player of the Year and a WNBA All-Star in 2018.

With former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick serving as host, ESPY ratings were down dramatically in 2018 as the broadcast drew 3.9 million viewers compared to 5.3 million in 2017. Comedian Tracy Morgan will host this year's broadcast on July 10.

'I hope my Uncle Sidney Poitier is there with my biological father Tony Dorsett and my second cousin Herschel Walker,' Morgan joked in an ESPN press release. 'And Bo Jackson I want my two dollars back.'

There are many other nominees for next month's awards show.

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is up for 'best breakthrough athlete' with Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young, Milwaukee Brewers slugger Christian Yelich, and U.S. Open winner Naomi Osaka.

Osaka is also nominated for 'best female tennis player' along with Serena Williams, whom she beat in Queens last summer to secure her first grand slam title - a match that is up for the 'best upset' ESPY award.

After getting married and giving birth in 2017, Williams failed to win a singles title in 2018 for the first time in her professional career. Still, she did post an 18-6 singles record on the year.

Antetokounmpo is also up for 'best NBA player' along with Houston Rockets guard James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George.

Durant, who recently ruptured his Achilles while playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, had won Finals MVP in each of the last two seasons.

Stewart is up for the WNBA's award with Phoenix Mercury veteran Diana Taurasi, Washington Mystics center Elena Delle Donne and Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Parker.
