Dramatic video shows American Airlines plane getting filled with fog

Dramatic-looking video shows American Airlines passengers sat in a fog-filled plane as they are left stranded for hours after their flight was diverted.

A Florida lawyer Jason Kral, 35, shared the footage online after his flight from Miami to the city of Liberia in Costa Rica was diverted to Nicaragua because there were POTHOLES on the runway at the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport.

But after the plane landed, the cabin was filled with fog, leaving passengers struggling to see.

The cloud effect is caused when the air-conditioned air inside the plane is exposed to the hot and humid air outside, and it's likely that the cabin crew opened the jet's doors while they waited to return to Miami.

American Airlines did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Kral, his wife and their two children - ages 11 months and four - had been traveling to for a family vacation on June 8 when their journey took a turn for the worse.

As they prepared for descent, Kral explained that the pilot aborted the landing and started circling the area in hopes that the potholes would be fixed. He would circle for an hour and a half.

Eventually the pilot was forced to divert the flight and temporarily land in Nicaragua.

And that's when the fog started filling the plane.
