Robert Graham Johnson, from the Gold Coast, bombarded his former partner with a spate of threatening text messages in mid-2017. Johnson pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court to multiple charges including stalking with violence and breaching a court order. According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, Johnson sent the woman a message saying 'watch behind you' from a pay phone. Crown prosecutor Cameron Wilkins told the court Johnson stalked his ex-wife over five and a half months after the pair broke up in 2017. Prior to the break-up, the couple were married for ten years. The 40-year-old also wrote off the woman's car by using an industrial-grade super glue to seal shut every single door of her car. 'Ultimately that car was written off because of the costs to repair the damage was too high,' Mr Wilkins said. Johnson suffered from mental health issues, a head injury and also has alcohol abuse problems, the court heard. Judge Ian Dearden sentenced the 40-year-old to 18 months in prison, but it was immediately suspended He has already spent 11 months in custody and will be on probation for two years.
