A police officer who interrupted his own press conference to tackle a man who was allegedly harassing a woman has revealed he now feels a bit embarrassed.

Detective Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards was speaking to reporters on Wednesday on the Sunshine Coast when he saw a man being chased by angry dad Kevin Scells, and tackled him to the ground.

Mr Edwards has now responded to seeing the tackle replayed on national TV, and said any police officer would have done the same thing.
