Out with her daughter and two grandsons in Bath, Sally-Ann Fricker was enjoying a spot of shopping when a pigeon landed in front of her.
So she broke off a corner of a sausage roll she was eating and threw it to the bird – which flew off with the treat.
But the simple gesture landed the grandmother in hot water when she received a penalty from an overzealous official.
Her daughter Toni Bradley said that ‘seconds later’ an enforcement officer handed her mother a £150 fine for littering.
