John Derek Radford, previously known as John Worboys, is accused of targeting women who hailed his cab. The defendant appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with two counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent to commit rape or indecent assault. He was further charged with two counts of administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence under the Sexual Offences Act. The first complainant was allegedly picked up in Worboys' taxi after leaving a bar. He is said to have told her he had won money on the horses and that he had been a stripper before offering her an alcoholic drink laced with drugs in a plastic cup. Radford is said to have used similar tactics to drug the other women. The complainants made their allegations to police in early 2018, but the alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2000 and 2008 in London. Worboys was also charged with two counts of administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence Radford is expected to appear at the Old Bailey via videolink before Mrs Justice McGowan at 9.30am.
