A young man has been fatally shot in London, in what is the 62nd killing in the capital so far this year and the sixth just over a week. 

The shooting happened in Feltham, in south-west London shortly after 11pm on Friday evening.     

Armed police, local officers and ambulance crews attended Exeter House on Watermill Way after reports of a shooting.

Paramedics battled to save the victim, who is believed to be aged in his 20s, but he died at the scene. There were no other reported injuries and the man's next of kin have been informed. 

Metropolitan police said a post-mortem examination will be held in due course and formal identification awaits.

No arrests have been made but a murder investigation has been launched, the police added.
