The advance in Mr Johnson's poll position comes despite police being called to attend his South London home early Friday morning amid reports of a 'plate-smashing, screaming row' with girlfriend Carrie Symonds. A recording of the pair arguing was handed to The Guardian by the politician's neighbour Tom Penn, who heard the disturbance and called the police in fear for the occupant's safety. During the row Miss Symonds is claimed to be heard demanding Johnson leave her home, screaming 'get off me' and 'get out of my flat' during the terrifying bust-up. At one point Mr Johnson asked how long he had left on stage, joking: 'There's some quite hostile bowling.' Two police cars and a van arrived within minutes but left after receiving reassurances from both the individuals in the flat that they were 'safe and well'. The poll of 510 councillors was carried out across Friday and Saturday as the news broke that Mr Johnson had been involved in a blazing row at the Camberwell home he shares with Miss Symonds.
