Residents on a street called Cookworthy Road are fuming after an unfortunate misspelling appeared on a roadworks sign.

The yellow sign, which has been erected next to gas works to install a pipeline for new build homes in Plymouth, Devon, instead bears the name 'Cockworthy Road.'

Locals called the mistake 'unbelievable' and suggested it could have been a deliberate mistake by the construction workers.

They also hit out at the works, saying they are causing 'havoc' in the area.
